Built From Community
Reality
The word “Mfumo” means system. We are building a better one — from the ground up, with the people, for the people.
From Finetown, For All
The word “Mfumo” means system. Communities like Finetown in Johannesburg face daily challenges — no jobs, poor service delivery, unsafe environments, and limited opportunities for young people.
Mfumo is built from this reality. Not from boardrooms or party offices in Sandton, but from listening, from experiencing, and from understanding what ordinary South Africans live through every single day.
It is a citizen-led movement focused on bringing government closer to the people — making services accessible, leadership accountable, and communities genuinely heard.
Our goal is to grow to 30% support from ordinary citizens — not through populism or empty promises — but through trust, honesty, and real connection at the ward level across all 136 City of Johannesburg wards.

Why Freedom Day Matters
Freedom Day commemorates South Africa's first democratic elections on 27 April 1994 — when all South Africans voted for the first time, regardless of race.
Mfumo was established on this day intentionally. It is a reminder that true power belongs to the people — and that every election is a chance to reclaim it.

PR & Ward Candidate · Finetown, Johannesburg
Biography
Mr. Goodenough Kheswa is the Founder and Party Leader of Mfumo Political Party. His journey into politics is not born from ambition, but from necessity — the necessity of communities like Finetown in Johannesburg, who have been failed by successive governments and left behind in South Africa's democracy.
As an entrepreneur and NPO advocate, he has spent years creating opportunities within his community while navigating the same broken systems that affect every resident. As a community ambassador, he has been the bridge between residents and government — fighting for services that should have been delivered long ago.
In 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he stood as a ward candidate in the City of Johannesburg Local Elections — not because the timing was easy, but because communities cannot wait for a convenient moment.
Now, as the leader of Mfumo Political Party, he carries that same determination into a national movement — with the goal of reaching 30% support from ordinary citizens across all 136 City of Johannesburg wards and beyond.
Stood as ward candidate for Finetown during the City of Johannesburg Local Elections in 2021 — during COVID-19 — demonstrating commitment that doesn't wait for perfect conditions.
